About Chuck Cogliandro

Since 1992, Chuck's passion has been bringing people together in the shared joy of West African drumming.

Chuck is past director of the Thurman-Hamer-Ellington (T.H.E.) Percussion Choir, founded in 1992 and based in Decatur, Georgia. T.H.E. Choir released its first recording, titled 'A Call To Drum', in October 1998, and its second, 'In the Circle', in fall 2002.

Chuck is also the director of 'Alafia', a performing percussion trio, and of the Emerson Drummers, a performing community group based in the Emerson Unitarian Church in Marietta, Georgia. Chuck organizes and hosts a twice-annual West African drum and dance camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina which draws over 100 attendees and ten instructors from all over the United States.

In 2003 Chuck began studies at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in order to deepen the work he has been doing with his hands through the drum for many years. Chuck's longing is to
co-create communities for transformation, using expressive elements of drumming, music, voice and movement.
