Topic: Oxidative Stress and Its Impact on our Health
Presenter: Dr. Joseph Holiday, MD
Don’t worry if you are not exactly sure what oxidative
stress is. Dr. Holiday will teach us all about it. Oxidative stress has a
major negative impact on our health. The cumulative effect of oxidative
stress affects each person differently. Common ways that it can impact us
include Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Cancer,
Cardiovascular Disease, and Neuro-Degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s
Disease, Alzheimer Disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), and Multiple
Sclerosis. Dr. Holiday will help us to understand oxidative stress and
teach us what we can do to decrease its affect on our bodies. Dr. Holiday
is a practicing physician in Athens, TN specializing in vascular, thoracic
and general surgery. In addition to usual medical procedures, he also uses
Chelation therapy and nutritional and vitamin therapies in his practice.
A drawing will be held for a $35 certificate for Sunrider herbal

"Mercury, Vaccines and Autism, Is There A Connection?"
The
2007-2008 President of CHEO, Tami Freedman is going to give you a quick
glimpse into the side of vaccines you don't hear much about in today's
media, speaking on "What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About
Children's Vaccinations," and "Autism IS Treatable." She’ll be
addressing the questions: “Is there PROOF that vaccines and mercury have
something to do with the epidemic rise in autism?” “What do the studies
really say?” “Are there studies you don't hear about?” “And are there
treatments during a "small" window of opportunity that your doctor and
insurance company should be promoting?”

Topic: Personalized Medicine-Treating the Whole Person
Presenter: Dr. Diana Sarkar, MD
Dr. Sarkar feels that the medicine of the
twenty-first century should be individual not disease diagnosis
with a ”one size fits all” treatment protocol. Dr. Sarkar will
share her ideas with us on how it is possible to have integrative
medical consultation that will treat the whole person. This is a
holistic approach that allows for a safe and supportive
environment for the healing process, and guidance for self
development and self healing. Some of the therapies and modalities
that might be used to individualize treatments include but are not
limited to medical acupuncture, herbal medicine as an adjunct to
traditional medications, preventive medicine, lifestyle and stress
management, counseling and biofeedback, manual therapies,
nutritional and supplement counseling, mind-body techniques for
wellness and guidance in learning to live effectively with chronic
Illness. Dr. Sarkar will focus on how to partner with illness and
injuries to facilitate healing. Dr. Sarkar has an active practice
in Knoxville .She most commonly uses therapies that are an adjunct
to a patient’s regular medical care from his/her primary care
physician thereby being able to treat the whole person.
A drawing will be held for a free one hour in home massage donated
